Why are my Documents stuck in Reversing?

If you're attempting to reverse a document and it remains in a "Reversing" status without completing, it's likely because the system is trying to post the reversal into a locked accounting period. Locked periods are typically indicated by a red padlock symbol next to the period field.

The system is intentionally designed to prevent reversals from being posted to locked periods to maintain data integrity and protect the audit trail. Attempting to post into a closed period will result in the reversal being held or rejected.

1. Navigate to Financial Year, and double click into the relevant Year.

2. Ensure that Show Closed is selected, then click the Period to highlight it, and then select unlock. Finally click Save and refresh the page.

3. Navigate back to the Document you are trying to reverse and click on the Reversal Button again.

4. You will now see that the Period is not showing the locked symbol anymore. Click on Submit, after a minute or so it will now show as submitted.

5. You can check this by navigating back to the document and clicking refresh, and you will see that it is now Reversed and has the Reversed stamp.

     

The Reversing document:

1. Click on the Reversal button, and you can see that the Period is locked

2. Navigate to the Financial Year and unlock the Period

3. Reload the page from within iplicit

4. Go back into the document and click the reversal button. Click Submit

5. The Reversal has posted successfully

Alternatively you can post the reversal into your current open period. To do this you will need to do the following:

1. Abandon the pending Reversal

2. Navigate back to the document you wish to reverse, and start the Reverse process again.

3. This will prompt a Reversal popup, here you will see that the original Period is locked denoted by the red padlock. If you hover your mouse over this icon, you will see a message advising that this indicates a locked record.

4. Change the Period to the current Period, and Submit.

5. The reversal will now be complete, and the Document will be marked as Reversed.
