Opening future periods can be done via Financial Year Groups > Financial Year.  In the Setup tab the Auto open current period option will need to be ticked.

As shown in the hint in black on the screenshot below, this would need to be used in conjunction with the Scheduler > Run Period End:


In Scheduler > Run Period End, enable the Scheduler as shown below, and execute a pattern based on when you want the next Period to be opened up:
