If your income is displaying as a negative value in your budget, this is usually caused by the sign configuration within your budget structure. You can correct this by reversing the sign for the relevant income account groups.

How to Reverse the Sign for Income Accounts

  1. Open your budget and enter edit mode.
  2. Go to Budget Structure.
  3. Locate the income account group(s) that are showing negative values.
  4. Select Reverse Sign.
    • iplicit will display an icon next to any accounts where the sign has been reversed.
  5. Save your changes and reload the screen.
  • Your Actuals will now display as positive values.


Income accounts often use opposite sign conventions compared to expenditure accounts. If the sign is not aligned with how your organisation reports income, the values may appear negative. Reversing the sign ensures your Budget vs Actual view displays correctly.
