Your emails could not be sending due to Microsoft Authentication Updates
Recent changes introduced by Microsoft have deprecated older authentication methods used for email integrations. This may affect organisations still using legacy or basic authentication settings within iplicit.
Please note, this was not a change made by iplicit, but rather a result of Microsoft’s update to enforce modern authentication standards.
What steps should your internal IT team take to restore email functionality?
To ensure emails continue to send successfully from iplicit, your IT team should review and update your email integration using GraphAPI. Below is a general overview of the recommended steps:
  1. Configure GraphAPI in your Microsoft tenant for the iplicit integration (e.g. under a name like Iplicit Outlook).
  2. Add a new email account using GraphAPI, replicating the previous settings where applicable.
  3. Rename the deprecated service (e.g. by adding a suffix like “_old”) to distinguish it from the new setup.
  4. Set an expiry date for the deprecated service to prevent future use (e.g. 18/09/2025).
  5. Authorise the new email account within iplicit.
  6. Set the new account as the default for sending emails.
  7. Send test emails to confirm successful delivery.
What else should we check?
  • Ensure all email accounts used within iplicit have the appropriate “Send on behalf of” permissions configured in Microsoft 365.
  • Be aware that additional permissions may be required depending on your organisation’s setup, such as delegated access or mailbox visibility.
  • If you’re using shared mailboxes or service accounts, confirm they are compatible with GraphAPI and modern authentication.
Can we resend failed emails from the email logs?
Emails that failed under the previous configuration will attempt to resend using the original (now deprecated) settings, which may result in further failures. To successfully resend, affected documents may need to be regenerated under the new email setup. Emails successfully dispatched and shown as sent from the communication log screen will need to be regenerated from the inital source.
You may need to come back to the communication log screen to check it has gone through and if it shows as a duplicate, highlight the emails marked as duplicate and use the force send button (found next to the send button) to push them through.
