How can I move money on a cash journals to another legal entity

iplicit allows you to transfer values between legal entities directly from a cash journal. When the correct Chart of Accounts setup is in place, the system automatically generates the required intercompany journals.

Use either:

• Quick Cashbook Withdrawal, or
• Quick Cashbook Deposit

The bank account selected determines the originating legal entity, so no manual entity selection is required.

2. Enter the Transaction Line

Add the required:

• General ledger code
• Value
• Target legal entity (via the Interco attribute)

The GL code used must be configured to support intercompany postings

3. Check the Chart of Accounts Rule

The GL code you are posting to must have:

• The Interco attribute enabled, and
• The attribute set to Optional

This setting allows iplicit to automatically create the multi‑company journals needed to move the value between entities.

If this attribute is missing, iplicit will not generate intercompany journals.

4. Submit the Cash Journal

After submitting, open the Links icon on the cash journal.
iplicit automatically creates two manual journals to complete the intercompany transfer.

5. Review the Automatically Generated Journals

Journal 1

Originating entity (e.g., Big Bad Publishing Charity):

• Credit: Intercompany Debtors

Receiving entity (e.g., Big Bad Publishing Limited):

• Debit: GL code used on the cash journal (e.g., 1101

Journal 2

Originating entity:

•     Debit: Intercompany Debtors

Receiving entity:

•     Credit: Same GL code (e.g., 11011)

Why Two Journals Are Created

The pair of journals ensures:

• Intercompany debtor/creditor accounts are cleared
• Both legal entities remain balanced
• The GL code value is moved, not increased or decreased
• The transaction complies with intercompany accounting rules
