This article covers how long an iplicitPay payment typically takes to process. iplicitPay uses open banking, which sends payments directly from your bank account to the supplier without generating a file or batch for manual upload.
How long does an iplicitPay payment take to process?
iplicitPay payments are typically debited from your bank account and sent to suppliers within two hours of the payment being approved. Most payments complete much faster than that, often within minutes, but the two-hour window allows for delays at your bank or with the supplier's bank.
What affects the processing time?
A few things can affect how long an iplicitPay payment takes:
- Your bank's processing speed and any internal checks they run
- Whether the payment requires multi-authorisation in your online banking. The processing window does not start until the final approval is given
- Whether the supplier's bank accepts the payment immediately or holds it for verification.
What if my iplicitPay payment is still processing after two hours?
If your payment is still showing as 'In progress' or 'Processing' more than two hours after final approval, it means your bank has not yet confirmed the final status to iplicit. Do not retry the payment, as this can result in duplicate payments. See 'Why is my iplicitPay payment still showing as processing?' for what to do.
