This article covers deleting Contact accounts in iplicit. Contact accounts hold supplier and customer details, so deletion affects both. Deletion is permanent and will break links to any existing documents, so always check the Contact has no history before you delete.
Before you delete a Contact account in iplicit
Deletion is permanent. Once a Contact account is deleted, any documents that referenced it - purchase orders, sales invoices, payments, receipts - will have broken links in the ledger records.
Before deleting, check the Contact account for:
- Any posted or draft purchase invoices or purchase orders
- Any posted or draft sales invoices
- Any payments or receipts
- Any other linked documents in the ledger
If the Contact has any history, do not delete it. Lock the Contact instead and create a new one with a different code. See the related article Why can't I recreate a deleted supplier using its old code? for the recommended approach.
How to delete a Contact account
Once you have confirmed the Contact has no linked documents, follow these steps:
- Navigate to 'Contacts'
- Use the filter to find the Contact you want to delete (sometimes called removing the Contact)
- Click the Contact to open it
- Click the three dots menu
- Select 'Lock' and then repeat with 'Delete'
- Select 'Yes' on the confirmation message
The Contact account is now removed and the code is free to be reused.
