If selecting 'Current financial year' in the filter returns no data, or returns outdated data from a previous year, the Financial year group setup needs checking.

Understanding 'current financial year' in GL enquiries

'Current financial year' is a value you select in the filter when running a GL enquiry such as the Trial Balance, Profit and Loss or Balance Sheet. On the enquiry filter bar, this sits in the 'Financial year' field alongside a separate 'Financial year group' dropdown, which lets you choose which group the enquiry runs against.

The 'Current financial year' field held against the Financial year group itself is what determines which year is actually used. When you select 'Current financial year' on an enquiry filter, iplicit looks at this field on the group to work out which year that means. If the field is set to a previous year rather than the year you're actually in, the enquiry filtered on 'Current financial year' will show that previous year's figures instead of the current ones.

Checking the Financial year group configuration

If a GL enquiry is showing no data or outdated data when filtered on 'Current financial year', check the Financial year group behind it.

  1. Go to Financial year groups
  2. Select the relevant group
  3. On the group record, check the 'Current financial year' field
  4. If this field shows a previous year rather than the year you're currently in, this is why GL enquiries filtered on 'Current financial year' are showing no data or outdated data
  5. Select 'Edit', update the 'Current financial year' field to the correct year, and save.

Once saved, GL enquiries filtered on 'Current financial year' will return data for the year you've just set.

If the enquiry still shows no data or outdated data after this change, check that transactions have actually been posted into the year in question, and that your user permissions include access to the relevant Legal entity.
