This article covers a mismatch between the Trial Balance (TB) and the Bank Reconciliation report. A difference between the two usually means a transaction has been posted to a different General Ledger (GL) period than the one you are reconciling.
This happens in two ways:
- A transaction is posted to the date you are reconciling, but into a future GL period
- A transaction is posted to the period you are reconciling, but with a future GL date.
Check that the correct filters are entered on the Trial Balance before comparing the two values. The Bank Reconciliation report identifies these transactions the GL Reconciliation section shows the total value sitting in a future cashbook date, future GL close date, or future GL period.
To see which specific transactions are causing the difference, scroll to the Exception Cashbook Items section further down the same Bank Reconciliation report. This lists each affected transaction individually, including its date, description, and amount.
